D.C. Cab
D.C. Cab

This is one of the, if not, the funniest movies ever made It ranks up there with Blazing Saddles Off color humor, it delves into some of the natural situations the average person might encounter. Mr.T, Gary Busey, Paul Rodriguez, and Bill Maher make this one of the best out there If you want to laugh at stupidity, sit and listen to every word The soundtrack isn't bad either. You won't be dissappointed I've been laughing since 1983 Finally a DVD, 'bout time

Closer (Superbit Edition)
Close enough

Poignant, powerful, shocking, sexy, sad. Closer is a microscopic view of what is going on in human relationships today. The whole question of "relating" is brought into sharp focus as we see four single people in search of love, yet not knowing how to find it. And when they do find it, not knowing what to do with it. Lying, deception, and more lying fills this very void in the mating dance today. An accurate analysis of relationships in a world that teaches us to be ever selfish, teaches us to be distant, teaches us how to be just "close enough" but not any closer. A beautiful one-liner sums it all up when Clive Owen as Larry in the setting of a strip club of all places, great juxtaposition cries out in sheer frustration as he considers the stripping whore in Alice Natalie Portman:
"What do you have to do to get some intimacy around here" A powerful summation of how we as human beings have forgotten the art of loving; we have forgotten how to really be intimate, how to love, how to get "closer." Brilliant.

Margaret Cho - Notorious C.H.O.
Absolutely hilarious

I am not a big fan of stand up comedy. I find most comedians annoying andor simply not funny. One of the few comedians I do like is Margaret Cho. I have been a fan of her since her short lived sitcom "American Girl" which was way ahead of its time for tv and still is. At the time I didn't realize she was a stand up comedian until I saw a comedy special in the late '90s on comedy central. I never laughed as hard before as I did then. I love her irreverance sense of humor. Her humor is definitely blue but it is honest coming from her POV.

"Notorious C.H.O" is easily one of my favorite dvds of her stand up work. My favorite moments during the film was when she talked about her drag queen friends from high school at the local Baskin Robbins. I was literally laughing so hard, tears were rolling down my eyes. I also had a good laugh when Margaret discussed about her experience in an S&M club. I thought Margaret did an excellent job at weaving poignancy of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 with humor as well as with the topic of gay marriage which was not a big issue then as it has been in the past year.

Margaret's sense of humor is not for everyone. Her humor certainly crosses over on to the raunchy side. A lot of her content on "Notorious C.H.O" is sex-related but it is coming from her own personal experiences. I thoroughly enjoyed "Notorious C.H.O". It is one of the funniest pieces of work Margaret has done in years.

Citizen Kane (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Citizen Kane is overrated

Well being considered the greatest movie of all time, it comes with the territory torrent. By nature, any time something extremly subjective like a movie is ranked number one people are going to be divided. Personally I don't think this is the best movie of all time, it's in the top five for sure but not the best. That honor has to go to my all time favorite the Godfather but that story is for another review. The movie Citizen Kane is a radical departure for most people. Raised in the short attention span theater, alot of people don't have the patience to sit through this movie. But for those who do, and are in the mood to think a bit, this movie is great. When you first see it, on the surface their isn't much their. It's a good story but why all the hype. Well the impact of Citizen Kane actually hits you when you turn off the movie. You sleep on it, or you do something else and the next day you start to think about it. You realize that this is damn good cinematography, not just for 1941 but for 2001. Their is a ton of great shots in the movie from when he drops the snow globe to when he takes a picture of the reporters he stole away. You then begin to think about Rosebud. Sure everyone already knew what Rosebud was, but why is it so important to a man who seemingly has everything, and yet nothing at the same time You also begin to see that for all his success, his failures far out weigh them. All this stuff starts seeping into your mind and you suddenly realize the impact of this movie. His unraveling at his failed attempt to make an opera star out of his wife, his failed attempt at running for governor all make you think. So for those of you who "get" Citizen Kane, you already knew these things, but for those of you who have seen it and don't like it, watch it again and like the quote at the end of American Beauty tells you, "look closer.".

The Mask of Zorro
I LOVED IT

The Mask of Zorro is great Although the plot is predictable, it's VERY entertaining. I loved the fight scenes which were very convincing and beautifully choreographed. Hopkins is always delightful to watch, Banderas he's so hot is the sexiest Zorro ever, and Zeta-Jones is great as Elena not to mention very beautiful. Two thumbs way up

Halloween 4 - The Return of Michael Myers (Limited Edition)
my favorite halloween movie

this is the best halloween movie in the series and 5 is very good to emule. Jamie the little girl really makes this a good halloween clasic. I think everyone liked seeing michael myers run after his neice and try to kill her. Thats what part 4 and 5 were about those are my favorite halloween movies. But it was sad to see jamie die in 6 but come on she cant keep running from michael all those years i think she was happy to die. Also i have a halloween 6 producers cut i am thinking about selling it but the good thing about the producers cut is that Jamie lives to about the end and then dies..

The Blues Brothers (Collector's Edition)
One Great Rip Snortin' BluesR&B Drenched Comedy

In a rare instance of a SNL skit translating WELL to big-screen the only other exception being Wayne's World, John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd produced a hilarious high-speed wild-ride of non-stop laughs.

Completely throwing all known laws of physics out the window witness the car jumps, surviving a transient hotel bombing, stealing an air-raid-siren et al, the Dynamic Duo of The Blues embarks on a do-or-die Mission From God to reunite their beloved band and save the orphanage that provided them a home growing up against all odds and obstacles The odds and obstacles Try the entire Chicago and Illinois state police forces, The Army, a local Neo-Nazi chapter, a hell-bent-on-violent-revenge former fiancee'Carrie Fisher, a touring band that plays BOTH types of music Country AND Westernand a skeptical concert promoter Steve Lawrence.

Some great guest appearances from Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Cab Colloway, John Lee Hooker and James Brown hold your interest as well as coutless police car pileups, hilarious encounters at Holiday Inns, and snooty French restaurants finding their old bandmates, disastrous gigs at redneck bars, Ackroyd's low-tech resourcefulness and a devastatingly hilarious mall chase that has to be seen to be believed All throughout, you really get the feeling the two main characters LIVED the blues and not just played them.

It usre doesn't aspire to high art but it does aspire to hilarious fun and snappy action.

X2 - X-Men United (Full Screen Edition)
More Action, Better Storyline, more characters

This movie is a winner in my book ed2k. It starts off with a mutant that was not in the first movie. Nightcrawler is a mutant who can teleport. He looks like a demon in the movie with his pointed ears and pointed tail, but we find in the movie that he is a deeply religious character. The scenes with Nightcrawler I think are the best, because of all the action, and the special effects are amazing. You also with get introduced to more mutants that were not in the first one including Pyro, who can manipulate fire. You got Lady Deathstrike who has metal claws that come out of the tips of her fingers. There is no Gambit in this movie.
The most suprising thing in the movie was the attack on the mutant school run by Professor Xavier. You get to see some mutants in small roles, including a girl who can walk through walls, and fall through the floors, there is a kid who can change the tv station by blinking, a girl who screams so loud it breaks glass, and shakes the ground, and a boy that is about to get shot who suddenly has metal covering his entire body.
The title of the movie tells you a lot "X-Men United". In this movie Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, Iceman, Rogue, and Pyro join forces with Magneto and Mystique, to take back the Cerebro technology that was stolen from the mutant school.
I recommend this movie to anyone. It is better than the first. It has more actions, more mutants, and a better plot than the original..
